
Hi-De-Hi!
A stage play by Paul Carpenter and Ian Gower

Based
on the TV series by Jimmy Perry and David Croft. All the well-known
characters from Maplins Holiday Camp are featured in this production.
Peggy, the chalet maid, yearning to be a Yellowcoat; Gladys Pugh, Radio
Maplin’s announcer, lusting after Jeffrey, the Holiday Camp
Manager; Yvonne and Barry, the doyens of the dance floor; Ted Bovis and
Spike, the Camp comedians; ex-jockey Fred Quilley and his horses,
Partridge the Punch and July man, and all the Yellowcoats, all waiting
to welcome you to Maplins for a packed programme of fun and
entertainment. As Joe Maplin so eloquently puts it, ”Don’t
forget my catchphrase, Hi-De-Hi! After all, I was the one what invented
it!”
Hi-De-Hi! will be directed by Doug Elkins. For anyone interested in reading for a part, a read-through of the play will be held in the Barn Hall at 8.00pm on Wednesday 4 June, with a casting meeting on the following Wednesday 11 June.
